Support Worker - Night Shifts

Permanent

62 Bed Care Home situated in the Lincolnshire coastal town of Mablethorpe in the county of Lincolnshire. The Fitzwilliam Care Centre are looking for kind and caring people to join our team as Support Workers, to provide the best in dedicated care.

To provide high-quality, person-centered care and support to residents with mental health needs, promoting their dignity, rights, and independence. The role involves delivering practical and emotional support, monitoring residents' well-being, and collaborating with the care team to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

Essential:

· Empathy, compassion, and a commitment to improving the lives of residents with mental health needs.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

· Strong observational and reporting skills.

· Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and the rights of vulnerable individuals.

Desirable:

· NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).

· Experience in mental health care or a similar setting.

· Awareness of care standards and regulations (e.g., Care Quality Commission, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983).

Main Responsibilities

Care Delivery:

· Support residents in developing and maintaining routines and life skills.

· Encourage participation in person centered activities and community involvement to promote well-being.

· Build trusting relationships with residents to provide emotional and psychological support.

· Support residents in managing their mental health and coping with challenges.

· Observe and record residents' physical and mental health, noting changes in

behavior, mood, or physical condition.

· Report any concerns, incidents, or safeguarding issues to the appropriate team member or manager promptly.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records.

· Work closely with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and families to provide a coordinated approach to care.

· Follow all health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

· Assist in risk assessments and ensure safe manual handling practices.

· Respond appropriately to emergencies, including fire evacuation and first aid.

· Maintain clear, respectful, and professional communication with residents, their families, and the care team.

· Use effective communication techniques to support residents with varying needs, including those with limited verbal communication.

· Always uphold confidentiality in line with GDPR and organizational policies.

· Respect residents' individuality, cultural needs, and personal preferences.

· Promote residents' independence and empower them to make informed

choices.

· Ensure residents' privacy and dignity are maintained.

· Understand and follow safeguarding procedures to protect residents from harm

· Adhere to legislation and guidance, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Equality Act 2010.

· Ensure compliance with the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

· Work in accordance with The Fitzwilliam Care Centre's policies and procedures,

ensuring best practice at all times

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.41 per hour
