Due to the continued success and growth of our customer, Screwfix, we are looking for a talented People (HR) Manager to join our team based at our flagship Distribution Centre in Stafford. This is a true generalist role operating in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a confident and engaging leader that will come in and join a friendly team and be able to hit the ground running.
How will you contribute?
The People Manager role will be based at the Stafford site and will business partner the General Manager and site senior management team.
The role has line management responsible for 2 People Advisor’s, and reports to the People Partner for the Screwfix contract.
In the role you will;
1. Ensure the provision of a high quality people service to site operational stakeholders in all areas of People including resourcing, employee relations, learning & development and reward
2. Work in partnership with the General Manager and site management team to develop and deliver the site People plan
3. Work together with local Employee Workforce representatives to maintain a positive and constructive working relationship, implementing an employee relations climate of excellence to support ongoing cultural development
4. Proactively facilitate and champion employee wellbeing initiatives across the site
5. Supporting ongoing volume recruitment in partnership with the resourcing team
6. Play a lead role in forward thinking action planning to ensure the control of absence and retention supporting the achievement of contractual KPIs and targets
7. Ensure compliance and keep up to date with new legislation and policy change
8. Proactively analyse and identify areas of improvement, and be a key influencer to help drive change
9. Ensure relevant management training is identified, sourced and delivered, promoting a culture of learning and development across site
10. Partner the Health & Safety team and support key site activities to achieve Health, Safety, Environmental and sustainability targets
What will you bring?
11. Strong generalist People / HR background with a track record of delivering as a People (HR) Manager ideally gained in a fast paced, logistics / retail environment.
12. Good working knowledge of employment law and experience dealing with volume and complex ER issues
13. Experience in adapting to change based on business requirements
14. Organised and self-starting with ability to work independently and as part of a team
15. Results focused with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with solid time management and organisational skills
16. Excellent written and communication skills
17. Ideally CIPD qualified
18. Excellent influencing skills and resilience
19. Ability to work flexibly to support a 24-hour operation (where needed)

The role will predominantly be site based with the option to work remotely 1 day per week. We are open to a discussion about flexible working hours.
