Assistant Psychologist – Band 4

Secure CAMHS at Adel Beck Secure Children’s Home (24‑bedged facility for young people aged 10‑18) is looking to recruit a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist. The role is based Monday‑Friday 8am‑8pm (12‑hour service).
Main Duties
* Support the Principal Clinical Psychologist and multidisciplinary team to embed trauma‑informed, formulation‑led practice across all settings.
* Develop and sustain trauma‑informed formulations guiding care planning, risk assessment and intervention pathways.
* Collaborate with residential staff to translate psychological concepts into everyday practice and facilitate safe, consistent environments for young people.
* Contribute to the neuro‑developmental assessment pathway and neuro‑developmental (ND) informed care planning.
* Provide indirect clinical support, including psychological monitoring, formulation and consultation with senior colleagues.
* Assist with administrative duties, audit, data collection and analysis, and preparation of teaching and training materials.
* Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and therapeutic group sessions as required.
* Receive and apply regular clinical supervision and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
* Honours degree in Psychology (2:1). Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Practical experience working with people with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities.
* Experience administering and scoring neuro‑psychological assessments.
* Experience in direct care provision and paid work within a relevant specialty.
* Experience using computer databases, data‑analysis software (e.g., SPSS) and preparing reports and visual material.
* Driving licence and car ownership required for travel across the catchment area.

* High level written and verbal communication skills in emotive environments.
* Ability to convey sensitive information and mitigate psychological resistance.
* Understanding of mental health, learning disability and other disability needs.
* Application of psychological knowledge to health and social service contexts.
* Strong report‑writing and data‑analysis skills.
