Job Title: Sports Coach Location: St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Contract Type: Temporary (One year in the first instance) Working Hours: 31.75 hours per week, starting at 10:00am daily Start Date: Following successful interview and DBS clearance Salary: NJC Grade 4, Spinal Column Points 7–11 Annual Pay Range: £25,584 – £27,269 (pro rata) Job Purpose St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Sports Coach to lead our PE and sports provision, helping every child develop confidence, enjoyment, and success through physical activity. This dual-role post offers a rewarding opportunity to support children’s learning both in and beyond the classroom. As our school continues to grow, the emphasis of this role will shift towards specialist PE teaching. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, high-quality PE lessons from Early Years through Key Stage 2, aligned with the national curriculum Support staff with PE development and best practice coaching strategies Lead structured physical activities during break and lunchtimes Organise school competitions, games, and events in partnership with local networks Provide classroom-based support and targeted academic interventions when required Who We’re Looking For We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including: Qualified sports coaches or primary PE teachers Graduates in physical education or sports science Experienced coaches from community, club, or school-based settings What matters most is your ability to inspire, lead, and connect with children of all abilities. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with primary-aged children in an educational or coaching role Understanding of the PE curriculum for primary schools Confidence to take initiative and lead engaging sessions Strong communication and teamwork skills A positive and resilient attitude Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (desirable) Application forms must be returned to school by 12pm on 3rd September 2025 Interviews will be held on Tuesday 9th September 2025.
