About The Role
We are excited to announce that due to increased student numbers and the diversification of our curriculum, we are widening our team.
Mercury College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Tutor Assistant to support our young people aged 18-25 in developing the skills they need to maximize their potential.
A practical approach with a can-do attitude will ensure an effective and engaging learning experience for students while developing skills across various areas. Our curriculum focuses on preparing students for adulthood outcomes such as employability, independence, community engagement, and health and wellbeing. You will be expected to work across all these areas.
Your ability to respond to student needs in the learning environment is crucial. Working alongside our dynamic and innovative tutors, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the curriculum and may lead on subjects aligned with your skills or interests. Our goal is to create an effective, student-centered study programme that develops skills and enables our students to succeed.
*Please note this is a term-time only role. Any annual leave must be taken during the 12-week college holiday periods.*
About You
You will need a good standard of written English to write reports and contribute to assessment processes. Your communication skills and positive interactions with external stakeholders will be vital in ensuring students have successful community experiences.
You will have relevant qualifications and experience supporting groups of SEND students with complex needs in a college setting. An understanding of how to support students in making progress towards their personal aspirations, targets, and EHCP outcomes is essential.
As we are a small college, the ability to drive mini-buses or willingness to learn is advantageous.
This is a rewarding opportunity for the right candidate.
You will work directly with colleagues from care and clinical services, liaising with parents, stakeholders, and community partners. The ability to work collaboratively is an essential part of your role as a Tutor Assistant.
In return, you will receive support for your professional development and become a valued member of the education team and college community.
*Due to current workforce planning, we are prioritising applications from candidates with indefinite leave to remain or settled status in the UK, but applications from all backgrounds are welcome.*
