An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Elective Bookings Team Leader to join the Medicine Bookings Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fully onsite role based at Wexham Park Hospital.
The successful candidate will work closely with clinical teams across the Trust to support key performance targets, including DM01, Referral to Treatment (RTT), and cancer pathway targets. The role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Elective Bookings Team, including staff induction, appraisal, training, and first‑line performance management.
As a key member of the team, the postholder will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of patient pathways, delivering high‑quality administrative support, and helping to provide an excellent patient experience throughout the elective booking process.
Responsibilities
* Work with the line manager to ensure all staff are trained appropriately and maintain training records.
* Ensure all phone calls are dealt with professionally and in a timely manner, adhering to local targets set by the department and Trust.
* Manage staff on a day‑to‑day basis including induction, appraisal and initial performance management.
* Support the Patient Pathway Co‑ordinator to create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for staff.
* Support the Trust in delivering NHS targets.
* Support the implementation of all new IT and Electronic Patient Record systems.
* Assist and be proactive in all modernisation projects that concern the team and improve patient pathways.
* Be multi‑skilled in your working role and able to assist in all areas of the department as and when required.
* Liaise with the Clinical team and Patient Pathway Co‑ordinator/Service Manager to provide a high‑quality empathetic service and highlight issues, working together as a customer‑focused team to solve problems that may arise.
* Ensure capacity is fully utilised and escalates when demand exceeds capacity and there is potential risk to performance and patient safety.
* Attend specialty meetings for your lead specialty as and when required.
* Follow all Trust and local policies and procedures at all times.
