Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership for the assessment and management of dementia patients in community and for functional older adults aged 70+ in the catchment area. The post holder will be the Approved Clinician for patients detained under the Community Treatment Order.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and be the Responsible Clinician for all patients open to the community team.
* Review new patients in a timely manner and oversee the clinical management of patients.
* Be available for timely meetings, MDT and facilitate discharge planning.
* Carry out duties as Responsible Clinician, including Mental Health Act assessments, preparation of tribunal reports and giving oral evidence at manager’s hearings and mental health review tribunals for patients under CTO. There is one patient under CTO at present.
* Be actively involved in supporting staff development and effecting continual service improvement.
* Provide clinical supervision to trainees, as well as supervising the specialty doctor.
* Participate in audit to ensure continuous improvement of the service.
* Provide cover for holidays and absences with an agreement with other Consultant colleagues in the area.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent, or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.
* Experience in community dementia care and work with older adults aged 70+.
* Proficiency in Mental Health Act assessments and tribunal reporting.
* Strong clinical leadership and teamwork skills.
* Ability to provide cover for holidays and absences.
