Position Overview
Assistant Genetic Technologist – permanent position at NHS North West Genomics Laboratory Hub (NWGLH), Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform protocol‑driven tasks in the laboratory as part of a technical team under the supervision of a Senior Genetic Technologist.
* Carry out technical and administrative tasks for a section or subsection of the laboratory after appropriate training.
* Manipulate fine tools and materials and operate specialised laboratory equipment that require high manual dexterity.
* Work accurately following detailed instructions, departmental procedures, and codes of conduct.
* Maintain constant attention to detail, prioritise workload, and work within tight deadlines to meet professional reporting time guidelines.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum A levels in relevant subjects or equivalent literacy and numeracy skills.
* Computer literacy required.
* Experience in a diagnostic laboratory environment desirable.
* Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
* Calm under pressure, flexible attitude, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Strong organisational and multi‑tasking skills.
