We are currently looking for a Specification Technologist
The Quality Technologist is a key support role within the M&S Floral Technical Team, working closely with the Floral Senior Technologist to uphold and enhance product standards. This position offers hands-on experience in quality management, supplier engagement, and technical compliance. It requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, proactive drive to deliver improvement and a passion for delivering floral products that meet M&S quality, safety, and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Supplier & Site Engagement
* Lead regular, independent on-site visits to floral suppliers and growers, conducting thorough quality assessments and ensuring full compliance with product specifications and standards.
* Build strong, field-level relationships with supplier teams, acting as a key technical contact and ensuring alignment with M&S quality expectations.
* Provide support to the MM Technical Team with M&S-specific requirements and technical queries.
* Issue Resolution & Compliance
* Identify and resolve quality issues at source, working directly with growers and supplier teams to implement corrective actions and contribute to root cause analysis.
* Support field-level governance, ensuring supplier operations meet MM Flowers and M&S standards.
* Drive key projects as part of the QIPs with clear plans outputs and next steps.
* Assist with FIND specification management to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Quality Monitoring & Analysis
* Monitor product quality at source, using field observations, supplier data, and store feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
* Collaborate directly with growers and suppliers to develop and implement targeted quality improvement plans based on real-time insights.
* Coordinate and share periodic crop reports from suppliers.
* Peak Floral Event Support
* Be physically present at supplier and packhouse sites during peak trading events (e.g., Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter), ensuring product execution meets agreed quality standards and customer expectations.
* Administrative & Ad Hoc Support
* Provide occasional support for supplier system access and documentation, ensuring smooth operational processes.
* Support the Floral Technical Team with ad hoc technical tasks, always grounded in field-based insights and supplier engagement.
