We are seeking motivated transport planning professionals who are ready to move beyond task‑based delivery and take greater ownership of technical outputs, client engagement and project direction. This role offers the opportunity to work with a high degree of professional autonomy within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to high‑quality, people‑focused transport planning projects as part of the ITP Advisory Group at Haskoning. You will be supported to continue developing your expertise while working alongside established industry specialists.
Where you will work
At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee‑owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together", drives us to create a positive impact on the world. We offer purpose‑driven and challenging work on diverse projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society.
With over 700 colleagues, working across multiple offices, we have a strong presence in the United Kingdom. Our people are at the forefront of delivering sustainable and future‑ready solutions for both the built and natural environment. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate closely with clients and partners to create positive change for communities and the environment.
As a Haskoning colleague, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a real difference, supported by a culture that values expertise, innovation, and personal growth.
As a member of the Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) team within Haskoning, you will work alongside skilled professionals united by a shared passion for vision‑led transport planning, designing sustainable mobility solutions that meet people’s needs and help shape places that reflect the unique character of their local context.
What you will do as a Senior Consultant
You will take a proactive approach to your work, applying your experience in any of the following technical areas within a consultancy or client environment:
* Designing and delivering active and sustainable places by applying vision‑led transport planning and placemaking principles.
* Identifying the need for change in public transport networks and producing solutions that are deliverable, affordable and sustainable.
* Developing and refining transport policies and strategies for UK public sector clients.
* Preparing evidence‑based business cases for sustainable transport schemes.
* Using transport modelling in a proportionate and pragmatic way – balancing future travel forecasts with real‑world user needs.
* Providing expert input into planning applications, underpinned by a deep knowledge of planning legislation and sustainable development practices.
* Delivering major infrastructure consent and subsequent compliance requirements.
Working with appropriate autonomy, you will manage your own workload across multiple projects, taking responsibility for delivering high‑quality, client‑ready outputs to agreed timescales.
What we expect from you
* Experience contributing to transport planning projects for UK public sector or development sector clients within a consultancy or similar professional environment.
* Sound professional judgement, with the confidence to interpret policy, guidance and technical evidence.
* Experience undertaking research and analysis that informs people‑focused, sustainable transport outcomes.
* An ability to work constructively with clients and stakeholders to support the development and delivery of transport solutions.
* Relevant knowledge and skills to extract and analyse large data sets and present findings and insights, including through the use of advanced data mapping and visualisation techniques.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the production of clear, high‑quality reports.
* A collaborative approach, including supporting and constructively reviewing the work of less experienced colleagues.
