Our client is seeking to recruit a Payroll Team Leader responsible for overseeing the daily administration of the payroll system, procedures, and service delivery. The role involves ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and contractual requirements, and processing payments accurately and timely each month.
Key responsibilities of the Payroll Team Leader include:
* Supervising the Payroll Team to ensure accurate payments, timely production and validation of payslips, statutory returns, and reports.
* Serving as the escalation point for internal queries from the Payroll Team and other related concerns.
* Managing workload distribution among Payroll & Pensions Officers, providing cover during absences, and ensuring resource adequacy during peak periods.
* Administering multiple pension schemes, ensuring proper transaction reporting and timely response to pension administrator queries.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory and pension scheme requirements, such as monthly pension returns and auto-enrolment.
* Processing monthly payroll, including post-payroll reporting and general ledger uploads.
* Preparing and reconciling month-end payments and returns (e.g., HMRC, pension providers).
* Liaising with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and support.
* Staying updated with relevant regulations/legislation and sharing information with the team.
* Collaborating with other Operations teams within the POE division to improve processes and service delivery.
* Working with the Payroll Manager to develop payroll services and identify efficiency improvements.
* Acting as Deputy for the Payroll Manager as needed.
* Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
