The role:
We are seeking a highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technician to join the friendly pharmacy team at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient pharmacy services to patients in the north of the city of Glasgow and support the West of Scotland Cancer network. You will be part of a skilled team operating within our aseptic unit, pre-filled chemotherapy section and dispensary, with opportunities to develop across clinical rotations once established.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Permanent, Full-time
Shift pattern - 5/7, including weekends and participation in public holiday rotas
Base Location - Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre
Key responsibilities:
1. Carry out routine pharmacy technical activities within the aseptic unit, including preparation and handling of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and other aseptically prepared medicines, adhering to SOPs and quality standards
2. Contribute to the supply of pre-filled/dose-banded chemotherapy.
3. Support training and supervision of pharmacy support workers within a well-governed pharmacy technical services environment
4. Deliver safe and accurate dispensary services, working closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers.
5. Participate in clinical rotation (once established) to broaden experience and support service resilience
6. Provide efficient, person-centred care and support.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
7. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a UK Registered Pharmacy Technician.
8. Strong attention to detail.
9. The ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
10. Effective teamwork skills.
11. Excellent communication skills
Desirable
12. An accredited accuracy checking qualification (PACT or DCT), or a commitment to work towards on appointment.
13. Previous hospital pharmacy or aseptic services experience; however, full training will be provided where needed.
