We are looking for a Lead Product Designer who can shape digital experiences from discovery through to delivery. Someone who can balance design thinking with business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility.
This is not a role focused purely on visual design. It’s about defining the wider experience, solving complex problems, and making sure that the final product works for both end-users and the organisations behind it.
You’ll work closely with clients, developers, directors and senior leaders to design experiences that are clear, scalable and commercially effective.
The Role
As Lead Product Designer, you will define the design vision and experience strategy across client projects.
You will lead discovery workshops, translate insight into actionable & structured UX direction, and ensure design decisions align with both user needs and business objectives.
You will likely be a senior level designer, guiding projects from early exploration through to delivery and guarding the quality of the end-product experience throughout.
Much of the visual execution will be supported by external designers, allowing you to focus on strategy, architecture, and design leadership. However, there may also be elements on hands‑on design within this role to help support our ongoing client support retainers – where applicable.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Experience Strategy & Discovery
* Facilitate discovery workshops with senior stakeholders
* Understand business goals, user needs, and operational constrain
* Translate insight into user journeys, service maps, and design direction
* Define product experience strategies that align with business objectives
* Identify opportunities to improve user journeys, engagement, and efficiency
* Define the design approach for complex digital platforms and services
* Ensure UX and design decisions stay aligned with project goals
* Set design standards and maintain consistency across projects
* Guide designers and ensure high-quality deliverables
* Balance design ambition with technical feasibility and delivery constraints
UX Design & Research
* Develop user flows, interaction models, journey maps and information architecture
* Create prototypes and experience models to validate ideas
* Conduct user research and usability testing where appropriate
* Translate discovery insight into clear, structured strategies, recommendations & final product experiences
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with developers to make sure design translates into working products
* Collaborate with client services and delivery teams to produce consistently high-quality deliverables
* Bridge the gap between design thinking and technical implementation
* Be the voice of the intended end-users, protecting their ideal experience throughout delivery
* Support the client services team with retained support work, estimates for future requests, contribute to Statement of Works and assist on client calls where necessary
Client Partnership
* Build strong relationships with client stakeholders
* Present design thinking and recommendations with confidence
* Help clients understand trade-offs between design, technology, and business priorities
* Ensure final products deliver measurable outcomes for the organisations we work with
New Business & Growth
* Contribute UX and product design expertise to pitch responses and proposals
* Help shape discovery approaches, experience strategies, and solution concepts for prospective clients
* Collaborate with our leadership, delivery, and commercial teams to develop compelling responses to briefs
* Attend and support pitch meetings, workshops, and presentations with prospective clients, both online and in person
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can think strategically about digital products and services, but who is also comfortable working practically within project teams.
You will have experience across UX, product design, business analysis, and/or service design, and be comfortable working across multiple projects and industries.
You should have:
* Agency experience working across multiple clients and sectors
* Experience balancing user experience, business goals, and technical constraints
* A background relating to UX, product design, business analysis, service design, and/or digital strategy
* Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills
* Experience working with developers to bring digital products to life
* Experience using Figma and other similar tools
* A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end thinking from discovery through to delivery
It would also be beneficial if you have experience in:
* User research and usability testing
* Information architecture and complex navigation systems
* Gathering and prioritising feature requirements
* Designing for CMS-driven websites or large digital estates
* Accessibility and inclusive design principles
