Serve Talent have partnered with a successful Engineering business to recruit a RD Firmware Engineer for their manufacturing facility based in Watton, Norfolk.
£40,000 per year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to take a leading role in the development of industry leading firmware and embedded design.
Working within a small, friendly, and close-knit team you will be recognized as an expert and be surrounded by a flexible and likeminded team working on new and interesting industrial electrical heating products.
This role offers a great deal of creative freedom as you will be the principal architect of all firmware and software within the department. There will also be an opportunity for electronic circuit design if this interests you.
Under the direction of the department technical lead, you will spend most of your time developing firmware for a range of electrical heater products. There will also be an increasing amount of software development required as the product lines and their capabilities increase.
To manage a range of research and development projects to cover both new products and updating existing designs.
To architect and produce new firmware and be responsible for their development, debug and testing.
To be responsible for developing test coverage requirements whilst assisting with the production team developing the production test software.
To ensure that goals and objectives of the department are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* To architect and take a leading role in the development of all firmware and software throughout the department and wider business as required.
* Develop, debug and test product firmware and its software applications.
* To identify new products and applications.
* Assist the production team by developing production test software.
Manage internal projects to include:
* Create detailed functional specifications and control documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
* Improving product quality through software obsolescence improvements.
* Using Field/Warranty & internal QC Data to drive product improvement.
* To provide technical support to internal departments as necessary.
Skills and experience required:
* Looking to be recognised as the ‘go to’ Embedded expert.
* Experienced in C/C++
* ARM Microprocessor and STM32 microcontrollers.
* Working within a ‘Functional Safety’ IEC 61508 framework or knowledge of MISRA compliance would be highly desirable.
* Some knowledge of electronic/electrical design.
* Confident and interested in working with new technology and development languages such as Python.
* Control theory and modelling in MATLAB or a desire to learn these new skills.
* Team player who is friendly and flexible with a strong willingness to collaborate.
* Must have an aptitude for problem solving and not only be able to identify problems, but also devise possible solutions
