Position Details
* Full‑time
* 8:30 am – 5 pm
* Hybrid – must live within commutable distance
* Stone, Staffordshire
* Up to £30 k DOE (+ performance‑based bonus)
Role
As the Bid Writer you will generate concise, persuasive bid proposals and deliver presentations to public‑sector (local authority) and corporate prospective clients. The role has become available due to expansion, and you will join a small but highly successful team.
Day‑to‑Day Expectations
* Meet strict deadlines to maximise the likelihood of winning bids.
* Attend multiple meetings, actively contributing valuable inputs.
* Request and provide information from colleagues within set time limits, displaying confidence and assertiveness when needed.
* Consistently update and enhance the Bid Library.
* Adapt and refine content to improve bid responses and re‑write older proposals as required.
* Build strong internal and external relationships.
* Proactively conduct research—both general market research and client‑specific research—before all meetings.
* Submit completed proposals to the Senior Bid Writer or Head of Bid by agreed deadlines, escalating issues as necessary.
* Develop tailored responses and method statements for each bid, ensuring alignment with client requirements and communicating key win themes.
* Create presentations and supporting hand‑outs for each proposal.
* Review successes and failures to inform future bids.
* Provide occasional copy‑writing support for newsletters, marketing material, and other ad‑hoc documents as required.
Requirements
* At least 2 years of bid‑writing experience with a proven ability to produce high‑quality sales and strategy documentation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong editing and concise writing abilities.
* IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite.
* A forward‑thinking, collaborative, and flexible approach with a strong work ethic.
* Confidence in presenting bids professionally and succinctly.
* Experience managing a demanding workload and prioritising tasks efficiently.
* Exceptional attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
* Degree level education is preferable but not mandatory.
* Ability to generate concise, effective content.
* Excellent editing skills.
* IT proficiency (Microsoft Office packages).
* Forward‑thinking, collaborative, flexible approach with a strong work ethic.
* Confidence in presenting bids eloquently.
* Experience managing demanding workload and prioritising tasks.
