Community Assessment Support Officer (CASO) – Batley Hub
Join Kirklees Council as a Community Assessment Support Officer (CASO) in the Batley Community Wellbeing Team. The role involves initial assessments and reviews for vulnerable adults, working with their carers and multi‑agency partners to support independence and care planning.
Responsibilities
* Conduct initial assessments and reviews of vulnerable adults aged 18+ with physical, sensory and mental health needs.
* Engage with informal and formal carers, providing information, advice and guidance.
* Make eligibility determinations in line with the Care Act (2014) and apply safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
* Write assessment reports, support plans and maintain accurate records.
* Work closely with allied health and social care professionals to coordinate services.
* Promote self‑directed support and self‑assessment for service users.
* Adopt a risk‑aware, strength‑based and customer‑focused approach.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in an informal/formal social care setting, delivering information, advice and guidance.
* Good understanding of public health and social care working practices, legal frameworks and national agendas.
* Strong literacy and numeracy, capable of completing financial assessments and written reports.
* Knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and good communication skills.
* Valid full driving licence – the role requires travel and use of a council vehicle or private car.
Hours: 37 per week – permanent, Grade 7 – salary £29,540–£31,022.
Location: Batley and Spen (North Kirklees). Type: Permanent.
