Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location - Cambridge
Hours - Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm
Salary - up to £40,900
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering team in Cambridgeshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out the operation and routine maintenance of all electrical distribution systems, including CHP feeds, emergency standby supplies and systems operating under statutory regulations.
* Undertake installation works, equipment upgrades and building modifications.
* Monitor and respond to alarms via the Building Management System (BMS).
* Comply with statutory requirements, including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and Installation Testing.
* Ensure the effective operation of normal, emergency and back‑up electrical supply systems, as well as the Fire Alarm system.
* Assist in preparing O&M budgets and cost estimates for minor works.
* Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
* Liaise with specialist contractors servicing plant under your responsibility.
Requirements
* BTEC or City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant electrical discipline.
* IEE 18th Edition qualification.
* Strong knowledge of electrical supply systems and M&E engineering services.
* Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
* Experience with local power and lighting systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong accuracy, attention to detail and organisational abilities.
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
* Competent in the use of hand/power tools and machinery.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings.
