Job Description Role: Secondary SEMH Teacher Daily Rate: £150 – £160 Location: Scarborough We are working with a specialist SEMH provision near Scarborough that is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through a therapeutic and individualised approach to education. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where emotional wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, adaptable, and resilient Secondary SEMH Teacher to work with small groups of Key Stage 3 pupils. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and wants to play a key role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs to re-engage with learning. The successful applicant will bring creativity, patience, and emotional intelligence to the classroom. Experience teaching in an alternative provision or SEN setting is beneficial, but not essential – what matters most is a commitment to supporting pupils who require a tailored, trauma-informed approach. Some of the key responsibilities include: • Delivering a broad and flexible curriculum that meets the academic and emotional needs of SEMH learners • Creating a safe, calm, and consistent learning environment • Building strong relationships with pupils, based on trust, empathy, and clear boundaries • Working collaboratively with support staff and school leaders to implement behaviour and wellbeing strategies • Encouraging progress through personalised planning and adaptive teaching This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September. The school offers outstanding leadership, a supportive and dedicated team, and access to ongoing professional development tailored to SEMH practice. If you are motivated by the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people and want to work in a school that places wellbeing at the heart of learning, we would love to hear from you.
