A fantastic opportunity is available to join the Payments & Cards Architecture Team as a Senior Solution Architect. This is an exciting time for the payments technology teams, as we transform how we operate within the Bank alongside the Payments Centre of Excellence and key suppliers to meet evolving customer expectations and industry changes.
The team concentrates on the functional architecture of applications and how they interact with other systems and works as an architecturemunity across domains, sharing reusable patterns and solutions learnt on projects, independently of projects and domains.

The difference you'll make:
1. Producing functional architecture for projects
2. Reviewing the designs that have been produced by engineering teams, using guidance and patterns that have been provided to them by architecture
3. Validating that solutions align to the strategies of Santander UK and Group
4. Balancing business requirements with functional and technical strategy
5. Working with the wider engineeringmunity to deliver sustainable solutions
What you'll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
6. Knowledge and experience of payments processing, covering all stages, including execution, gateways, MT Swift Messaging and industry standards, including ISO 20022
7. Significant experience of architecture design, defining and documenting pragmatic architectures, that balance business requirements with functional and technical strategy
8. Experience working with stakeholders to help define and deliver strategic objectives and roadmaps
9. A passion for driving change by creating practical, workable architectures aligned to IT principles and following appropriateernance
10. Knowledge of planning and organizing concepts and best practices with the ability to manage multiple projects
11. Experience in line management or team leadership
It would also be nice for you to have:
12. Knowledge & experience of international payments and CBPR+
13. Working knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate and the C4 model
14. Experience of using architecture tools such as Avolution Abacus
15. Knowledge & experience of APIs and microservices
What else you need to know:
Our preferred location for this permanent role is Unity Place - Milton Keynes, but we'll also consider locating the role in Bradford or Glasgow.
We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best oues for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
