Plymouth Leander Swimming Club (PL) based in Plymouth, Devon, is seeking a suitably qualified Junior Coach to join our team.
Applicants should hold the Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award, UKCC Coach Level 2 qualification,or an international equivalent.
PL has a rich history of producing a performance programme with swimmers competing on both national and international stages. Now,in a new era, the club is building a base of producing homegrown talent to reach these levels. Whether you are an Olympic hopeful or a competitive swimmer who simply wishes to be the best that they can be, we have a programme catered for athletes' needs.
We have approximately 150 swimming members encompassing all ages and abilities, including Learn to Swim, County, Regional, National, and International levels. Our programme runs a the £46m Plymouth Life Centre (10-lane 50m pool, gym and sports halls) with 13 hours of long course pool time and access to a newly refurbished gym for strength and conditioning training.
We are seeking a coach with established experience and proven results with age group and junior athletes, developing themfrom competitive to national level. The successful applicant will be a first-class coach, enthusiastic, self-motivated and an excellent communicator. The successful applicant will display abilities and understanding around developing age group and junior athletes, whilst maintaining good communication with parents.
Requirements for the Post:
* Must hold a minimum UKCC Coach Level 2 qualification – or an international equivalent
* The successful applicant will have particular responsibility for two pathways, Age Group and Junior.
* The successful applicant will be responsible for the planning, periodisation and delivery of the training sessions and the competition calendar for the squads.
* Knowledge and experience of the development, organisation, implementation and coordination of age group and junior swim squads and the development of such athletes to ensure that all individuals within the programme are given the opportunity to maximise their potential, including an understanding of swimming-specific long-term athlete development (LTAD). Excellent communication skills with other coaches
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with athletes,parentsand partners to continually encourage athletes towards the next level of their individual development, alongside the development of the Plymouth Leander swimming programme as a whole
* Development of the programme to ensure continued success as a performance swimming club and ensure the continued development of competitive athletes from grassroots through to National level
* Create and maintain strong links with Little Leander swim school teachers, swimmers and parents. To develop a strong pathway to allow swimmers to move effortlessly up the club and progress their swimming to reach their goals
* Attend competitions, camps, meetings and meets to support athletes when required.
* Provide operational support in the absence of the Head Coach, including during away meets and periods of annual leave, to ensure continuity of training and program delivery
Working Arrangements:
* Work closely with the Head Coach, the PL board and Assistant Coaches
* Will include early morning, eveningand weekend work
* You will be required to work on poolside to coach the squads allocated to the position described above, assist other coaches and complete non-pool deck administrative duties.
* Will include the organisation of swim camps, clinics and education opportunities
* Regular interaction with Little Leander to include supporting and continuing professional development (CPD) sessions for teachers

* PL weekends meet attendance allowance (additional to salary)
* PL funded CPD opportunities (formal and informal) on the recommendation of the Head Coach
* PL expenses package for meets and camps (accommodation, subsistence and travel)
