Senior Speech & Language Therapist - Stroke services & acute dysphagia. Based at The James Cook University Hospital and Redcar Primary Care Hospital. Join to apply for the role at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service within the specialist area of stroke, with the opportunity to work across the stroke pathway in a rotational programme from hyper-acute through inpatient rehabilitation to the ESD team or outpatient clinics.
* Deliver a 6-day rota service to the acute stroke unit.
* Develop competencies in dysphagia management including videofluoroscopy, with training and supervision provided.
* Support and mentor speech therapy and rehabilitation support workers and students; progress to mentoring Band 5 staff as you advance.
* Engage in quality improvement and join team project development groups.
* Collaborate with MDT colleagues across University Hospital Tees to develop future stroke service delivery.
* Travel between sites as required; access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Qualifications and Skills
* Ideally a Band 6 therapist with experience in stroke services or a Band 5 with recent clinical experience ready for progression.
* Ability to work effectively in a busy multidisciplinary team and a commitment to learning.
* Training and competency development in dysphagia management and videofluoroscopy.
* Strong interpersonal, mentoring and leadership potential.
