“Pupils and staff enjoy belonging to a vibrant school community where caring, respectful relationships are the norm” – Ofsted (January 2024)
We are welcoming applications for the posts of Graduate Coach at King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy, which was recently graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in all four areas in January 2024. We are seeking to appoint two Graduate Coaches with specialisms in either English and Maths or Science.
We are looking for a dedicated individual with a passion for supporting pupils with statements of special educational needs. This role involves providing targeted intervention and bespoke 1:1 support in your specialism. The ideal candidate will be ambitious for both themselves and the pupils they support, driven to achieve positive outcomes. You will work closely with subject teachers to support pupils’ classwork and be a key member of our SEND team, which has been praised by Ofsted for strong identification and support for pupils with SEND. Most importantly, you will join a small, kind, and supportive community of senior leadership, teaching, and support staff who value staff wellbeing and workload, as noted in our Ofsted report.
King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy is a dynamic and forward-thinking school, recently recognised as the most improved school in the West Midlands and the fifth most improved in the country by the Fairer Schools Index (January 2025). We are proud to be the first Birmingham City Academy School in partnership with Birmingham City Football Club, creating a unique environment for our pupils.
We are proud of our journey of improvement and look forward to welcoming professionals who share our commitment to the best outcomes for pupils, who “know staff have high expectations of them and want them to succeed.” Both staff and pupils are “rightly proud of Balaam Wood’s recent improvements,” reflecting our values of being bold, ambitious, collaborative, and kind. We invite you to apply and become part of our vibrant community.
