Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Electrical Superintendent and Construction Superintendent, performs electrical tasks in residential construction, repair, and preventive maintenance at TNHA facilities. Must wire new homes with quality and code compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform electrical work for new construction, repair, maintenance, installation, renovation, and modernization of electrical systems in accordance with blueprints, codes, and NEC.
* Install and connect wires, circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, and other components using appropriate tools.
* Maintain and upgrade electrical systems and equipment, inspecting circuits for safety.
* Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions.
* Document maintenance activities and monitor preventive maintenance programs.
* Work professionally with coworkers, clients, and community members.
* Provide on-the-job training in electrical skills.
* Follow safety rules and regulations.
* Prepare work estimates, material lists, and reports.
* Work independently with attention to detail amidst interruptions.
* Perform calculations, planning, and project monitoring.
* Maintain confidentiality of information.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Alaska Journeyman Electrician License with Certificate of Fitness.
* At least 3 years of residential electrical experience.
* Ability to work in a team and wire homes to code.
* Knowledge of electrical construction, maintenance, safety, and codes.
* Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
* Valid Alaska Driver's License.
* Ability to travel by small aircraft to Arctic villages.
* Additional preferred qualifications include tribal membership, Inupiaq language skills, 5+ years of electrical experience, Arctic construction knowledge, and OSHA certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work involves outdoor activity in cold weather, lifting, walking, standing, kneeling, climbing, and operating equipment. The position is safety-sensitive, requiring alertness and adherence to safety protocols. The environment is both indoor and outdoor, often with heavy machinery and noise.
