Managing Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering / Water (NEC)
£85,000 per annum + attractive benefits package. Hybrid working arrangement. Lead Managing Quantity Surveyor role within Water Division of Tier 1 civil engineering contractor, on recently awarded energy and utilities infrastructure project. Senior leadership position with fast‑track progression to Commercial Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and develop high‑performing commercial team (training, coaching, appraisals, development).
* Encourage collaboration between Commercial and Project Management teams.
* Agree, monitor and review personal objectives across the commercial function.
* Provide contractual and commercial advice to operations and delivery teams.
* Manage, review and expand subcontractor supply chain. Raise and manage new subcontracts, ensuring compliance with governance procedures.
* Carry out subcontract evaluations, assess applications for payment and authorise payments.
* Work closely with Operational Lead to ensure accurate commercial reporting, identify risk and maximise commercial opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* HNC/BSc in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* Minimum 6 years’ experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor.
* Background in civil engineering, water, utilities or infrastructure projects.
* Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
* Experience gained with a Tier 1 main contractor or reputable subcontractor.
* Stable career history with proven leadership capability.
