Job Summary:
The Test & Development Engineer will plan and execute tests of component, system and product levels.
Working closely with the Design Engineers, Calculations Team, Production and Project Leadership – the
T&D Engineer will help develop a Design Verification Plan (DVP), including identifying suitable testing,
test procedures, venues, data acquisition and sensing, data interpretation, and reporting. The role will be
highly varied, operating across different projects, phases and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design Verification Planning (DVP): Create and develop a DVP to demonstrate verification of product and system requirements.
* Test planning: Identifying the correct Devise Under Test (DUT) components, rigs, sensing, data acquisition and venue requirements.
* Design: Utilising Siemens NX, CAD design DUTs, rigs and fixtures and test equipment to perform the desired tests.
* Test execution: coordinate and enact the test directly, or in coordination with the facility.
* Test reporting: Collect and interrogate the test data.
* Test recording: Attend product test trials, keeping record of procedures, issues and report accordingly.
* Development: Offer suggested developments from outcomes of test results, and implement improvements.
* DFMEA: Help identify where testing can mitigate failure modes identified through a DFMEA creation and support.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:
* Education: Educated to a minimum of HND level in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
* Data Analysis Software: Proficiency with Excel and MATLAB. Knowledge of data acquisition software such as ATLAS, DewesoftX or Simcenter Testlab is beneficial.
* Key Skills: A sound knowledge of engineering principals coupled with a hands‑on, practical approach.
* Communication: Ability to communicate key information to a variety of stakeholders.
* Organisation: Ability to document in a clear, concise and timely basis.
* Culture: Seeking to thrive is a positive, fast‑paced, innovative, team environment, where a positive can‑do attitude and adaptability are highly desirable.
* Industry Context: Experience in a relevant industrial environment such as Motorsport, Advanced Engineering or high‑performance aerospace.
* A keen interest in coding and AI is beneficial.
