South Lanarkshire Council delivers a wide range of services that support every community across the area. Grounds Services, which sits within Community and Enterprise Resources, is responsible for the maintenance, management and improvement of the Councilâs landâbased assets, including parks, sports facilities, cemeteries, golf courses, open spaces, woodlands and landscaped areas.\n\nGrounds Services consists of several specialist operational areas, including:\n\nGreenkeeping Teams â responsible for managing and maintaining golf courses and fine turf surfaces.\nArboriculture Teams â responsible for tree inspection, maintenance, felling, safety operations and woodland management.\nHorticultural & Machinery Services â including the maintenance, servicing and repair of groundsâmaintenance equipment and machinery.\n\nTo undertake a 4 year Modern Apprenticeship in Land Based Engineering (SCQF Level 7), delivered through a 4 year Diploma via block release, developing the technical and mechanical skills required to service, repair and maintain horticultural and grounds maintenance machinery across South Lanarkshire Council.\n\nThe Council is committed to fostering equality, diversity and inclusion in itâs workforce. During your training you will also develop your core skills through the work you carry out. Successful candidates will receive training that combines:\n\nOnâtheâjob experience, working alongside experienced greenkeepers, arborists and machinery technicians.\nCollegeâbased learning, gaining the technical knowledge and nationally recognised qualifications required for your chosen discipline.\nDevelopment of core and metaâskills, including communication, problemâsolving, teamwork and professional behaviour.
