Main duties of the job

Prospect Medical Group is a long established, friendly and forward-thinking GP practice in the west end of Newcastle Upon Tyne based in modern single site premises. We have 6 GP partners who employ 2 salaried GPs, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 3 Healthcare Assistants as well as a team of dedicated and supportive administrative staff. We currently have a patient list size of around 15,000. We are highly involved in our PCN (Inner West Newcastle) and through this we benefit from pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychology, paramedics, a nurse associate, mental health workers and social prescribers who work also work for the practice.

Job responsibilities
1.Greet patients and visitors to the practice.
2. NavigatePatients to the most appropriate clinician or service.
3.Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments in linewith practice appointments proceduresensuingoptimum efficiency of the appointment system.
4.Ensure those patients without appointments but whoneed 'urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots and referred to aGP where necessary.
5.Receive and accurately record requests for homevisits, assessing urgency in accordance with the Practices protocols. Printoff home visit summary sheets.
6.Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitorrequests accordingly.
7.Explain practice arrangements and formal requirementsto new patients and temporary residents, ensure procedures are completed.
8.Assist any patient who wishes to register at thePractice.
9.Advise patients of relevant charges for privateservices, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
10. Supportpatients to order repeat prescriptions according to practice procedures
11. Ensurecorrespondence coming into the practice is passed on to relevant team.
12. Ensurereception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
13. Re-stockingof information leaflets as appropriate
14. Answeringincoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirectedaccordingly.
15. Actionstart and end of day procedures.
16. Checkemails and electronic document systems on a daily basis to ensure all tasks areactioned.
17. Regularlycheck tasks and emails on SystmOne to ensure all messages have been actioned.

Experience
* To be successful in your application, you will need excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be confident in using computer and general applications such as email, you will have a positive, friendly, and welcoming attitude.
* You will have previous exposure to problem-solving Previous experience in customer facing role.
* Previous experience in a medical setting
* Previous experience in using medical software such as SystmOne
