Job Description The Senior Payments Officer will provide systems and payments administration, together with performance measurement and quality control information for the following areas : Moray Council Financial systems (processing) And will assist in the operational management of the Payments team. Requirements Provide day to day system/s maintenance and administration of the processing function Develop operational procedures to ensure the function is properly documented Review the procedural standards for this area Participate in the training and development of staff within this area Support the Assistant Payments Manager with the overall direction and support for the team Assist in the ongoing service provision review to ensure best value Handle various enquiries, both written and verbal The Individual Minimum 3 years in general Finance Payroll administration and/or Business Management Experience in finance system administration A high level of IT literacy with competence in Microsoft Word and Excel Understanding of finance control and administration including implementation of new procedures Effective numerical skills Finance/Administration diploma Able to organise personal workload and that of others to meet set deadlines Ability to write and interpret legislation and procedures Knowledge of local authority Conditions of Service A flexible approach to new working practices and technology Ability to switch between tasks easily To work on own initiative to specified deadlines Analytical and research skills Able to maintain confidentiality Able to work as part of a team and using own initiative Very good communicator – verbal and written The ability to motivate and monitor staff Work under pressure to tight deadlines Ability to work in a shared office Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements Closing Date: Friday 13 February 2026 Starting Salary: £38,699 Hours Per Week: 36.25 Proposed Interview Date: TBC For further information, please contact Daniel Littlewood 01343 563138
