Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated Private Client Solicitor with solid experience in estates, wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and trusts. The successful candidate will be confident managing their own caseload, supporting junior colleagues, and engaging in business development activities to expand the firm’s presence in the local market.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied caseload including:
* Estate administration (ranging from straightforward to complex matters)
* Drafting wills and advising on inheritance planning
* Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
* Advising on and administering trusts
* (Optional) Court of Protection matters if experienced
Client Service & File Management
* Provide clear, practical, and empathetic advice to clients.
* Progress matters efficiently and meet appropriate billing and time-recording expectations.
* Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Supervise, support, and mentor junior team members where needed.
* Contribute to a collaborative working environment and knowledge-sharing within the team.
Business Development & Networking
* Attend networking events, seminars, and community functions to promote the firm and generate new work.
* Build and maintain relationships with local referrers and professional contacts.
* Contribute ideas to assist in the growth and development of the Corby private client offering.
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with relevant private client experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of wills, estates, LPAs, and trusts.
* Able to manage a full and varied caseload independently.
* Confident supervising and guiding junior staff.
* Comfortable with business development and representing the firm at events.
* Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
Desirable
* STEP qualification or working towards it.
* Experience with high-value or complex estates.
* Familiarity with Court of Protection matters.
* Existing local networks within Northamptonshire or surrounding regions.
