Extraction Chemist Position at RPS
RPS is seeking an Extraction Chemist to join our Laboratory Team based in Bedford. This role is ideally suited for a recent graduate in Chemistry (or a closely related field) and offers the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, commercial laboratory environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Salary starts at £23,481, with potential for increases through regular performance reviews as part of the Extraction Development scheme.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and extract samples, including environmental contaminants across various sample types.
* Work under a Senior Analytical Chemist, managing your workload and collaborating with team members to ensure timely and quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Follow established procedures for sample extraction and preparation.
* Maintain stocks of consumables and chemicals.
* Conduct laboratory checks, including calibration and maintenance of equipment.
* Participate in routine laboratory tasks to ensure smooth operations.
Potential Hazards:
* Handling chemicals and solvents.
* Handling potentially biohazardous samples.
* Handling food items, including nuts.
Ideal Candidate:
* Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting, weighing, titrations, and dilutions.
* Good time management, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to follow instructions and seek advice when needed.
* Understanding of Quality Control/Quality Assurance processes.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
