The BIM Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective implementation, coordination, and governance of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes across major construction and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on managing digital design workflows, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovation through the integration of BIM technologies.
The BIM Manager leads the development and maintenance of detailed 3D models, facilitates collaboration between multidisciplinary teams, and ensures that project deliverables meet quality, accuracy, and timeline requirements. With a strong emphasis on leadership and technical expertise, the BIM Manager plays a key role in promoting digital transformation, embedding best practices, and fostering effective communication among stakeholders to deliver coordinated and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Model Development and Maintenance
* Utilise software to create and maintain detailed 3D models.
* Update and amend models based on feedback and project changes.
Standards and Compliance
* Ensure models adhere to project requirements.
* Develop and implement BIM standards, protocols, and workflows for projects.
* Manage and enforce the BIM execution plan to ensure team compliance.
Coordination and Collaboration
* Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to produce coordinated and accurate designs.
* Coordinate the integration of models from various disciplines into the Federated Model.
* Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders through project meetings and BIM coordination sessions.
* Conduct regular BIM coordination meetings to address project changes, design conflicts, and resolution strategies.
Quality Control and Validation
* Perform clash detection, discuss issues, and resolve design conflicts.
* Conduct model quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Oversee model validation and ensure quality control processes are adhered to.
* Carry out regular BIM audits to verify model compliance and accuracy.
Project and Deliverables Management
* Ensure BIM deliverables meet project requirements, specifications, and deadlines.
* Report on BIM challenges and successes to senior management and stakeholders.
* Liaise with IT to manage software licences, tools, and resources required for BIM execution.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
* Stay updated on the latest BIM technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
* Implement new technologies and strategies to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience in BIM Management.
* Expertise in managing Common Data Environments (CDE) and implementing BIM processes (in line with ISO 19650 standards).
* Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing teams.
* In-depth understanding of digital technologies, data management systems, and their application within construction and infrastructure projects.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Familiarity with digital tools such as Autodesk Construction cloud.
* Experience in training and upskilling project teams on digital information management and BIM processes.
* Certifications in information management or BIM.
