Are you ready to step into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and skilled Commis Chef Pastry to join our team at Wellington College, RG45 7PU. In this role, you’ll be more than just a chef – you’ll play an essential part in shaping a positive future for young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional kitchen with high-quality ingredients, creating a variety of delicious pastries, desserts, and baked goods. Good access to Crowthorne train station and on-site parking available.
What You’ll Do:
1. Prepare products from scratch, including doughs and baked goods, with attention to detail.
2. Apply pastry techniques to ensure high standards of presentation and quality.
3. Use pastry tools and equipment safely, maintaining cleanliness and equipment care.
4. Assist with setup, presentation, and replenishment for daily service and events.
5. Organize workstation efficiently, respecting shared spaces.
6. Contribute creative ideas for future menu development.
7. Support the Head Pastry Chef with stock management and ordering.
8. Prepare food safely, considering allergens and dietary requirements.
9. Follow all food safety and health & safety procedures, completing necessary documentation.
10. Assist with cleaning schedules to maintain hygiene standards.
11. Communicate effectively and foster positive working relationships.
12. Promote a professional image through excellent customer service.
13. Undertake occasional duties outside routine tasks, including supporting at special functions, which may involve overtime.
14. Attend relevant training courses.
What You Bring:
* Experience in a similar role within the service industry.
* Strong attention to detail and adherence to standards.
* Excellent communication skills in English.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods.
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
* Specialist pastry qualification is advantageous.
