An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified nurse to job share with our current technical educator. The technical educator will support the Practice Development Facilitator for Neonatal Services in the development and delivery of training programmes and educational strategy across the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as supporting staff in the clinical areas. The ideal candidate will have a high level of knowledge and skill within Neonatal Intensive care and be passionate about teaching and developing clinical staff. They will need to be approachable to staff and provide leadership and support to empower junior staff to develop themselves. The technical Educator is accountable for their own professionalism, and is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of education programmes to positively impact the delivery of quality patient care. Main duties of the job The post holder is required to promote and maintain an effective environment for learning within the Neonatal Services directorate through coaching, and staff development in a variety of settings. The post holder under the support of the Practice Development Facilitator will manage their own workload working collaboratively with all disciplines to ensure the effective running of the service. The post holder will plan and deliver training sessions and work alongside staff in the clinical area. They will support the directorate practice development facilitator in the annual review and development of education and training provision for staff. The Technical Educator will also assist in the development of relevant guidelines, policies and procedures for Neonatal Services as well as taking an active role in audit. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. Education/Qualifications Essential criteria RGN, RM, RSCN / RN (Child Health) Specialist professional knowledge of education and development practice, to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience ENB 405/ Neonatal Modules 1&2 ENB998 / Teaching and assessing/Mentorship Module Neonatal Life Support Desirable criteria Post Graduate Certificate Education (PGCE) or working towards BSc (Hons) Neonatal Practice Leadership Training Experience Essential criteria Ability to develop and teach staff Evidence of continuing professional development. Relevant experience with a wide range of NICU equipment Neonatal experience in a busy referral neonatal unit. Ability to demonstrate awareness of research-based practice. Evidence of contributing to practice development in clinical area. Ability to motivate and lead the staff team and maintain good working relationships. Ability to teach and supervise junior staff and maintain high standards of care. Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others. Demonstrates understanding and engagement with quality issues, e.g., benchmarking. Ability to support staff during the PADR process Proven leadership skills and organisational skills. Ability to plan, develop and co-ordinate working practices Ability to manage resources Desirable criteria Interest in research. Information technology skills. Aptitude Essential criteria Sound knowledge of current neonatal nursing issues, with an understanding of the relevance and local impact of issues and policy from the wider arena of the nursing profession and the NHS. Evidence of professional development and relevant further study. Professional revalidation profile indicating experience relevant to the post. Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service. Good communication skills. Commitment to the department. Able to work under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
