We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities, or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
West Lothian Council is committed to significant changes in the delivery of our Education Services. These include providing support and an environment conducive to your professional development. Our dedication is demonstrated by achieving the Investors in People Standard and continually striving for excellence in service delivery and improvements.
Beattie School provides education for pupils with profound, severe, and complex learning difficulties aged between 3 and 18 years. The school serves the entire West Lothian Council area. Recently, it moved to a new, purpose-built facility designed to support the complex needs of its students.
We are seeking two enthusiastic advanced pupil support workers to join our team, supporting young people with complex needs.
The curriculum at Beattie is child-centered, focusing on the whole child, considering individual needs, personalities, and age. We offer a broad, balanced curriculum within the National Framework for Curriculum for Excellence. Multi-sensory and interactive methods ensure the curriculum is dynamic and meaningful for each pupil. The curriculum is tailored to be age and ability appropriate.
Our staff are highly skilled, and ongoing training is provided to ensure all children are nurtured, cared for, and provided with outstanding learning experiences. Our team is creative, caring, and adept at recognizing and celebrating individual successes and achievements.
The complex medical, physical, and sensory needs of our pupils require close collaboration with Allied Health Professionals to ensure appropriate medical and educational support is provided.
There is a positive and productive ethos across the school. Staff, parents, and partners work collaboratively to create a supportive community dedicated to providing the best care for our children.
Postholders are required to work towards an appropriate qualification—SVQ Level 2 or equivalent—within five years.
