The project office is located at Logie Business Park, Kirriemuir. Regular travel to construction sites will be required.

To support the delivery of effective, timely, and engaging communications for the Emmock–Hurlie project. This project forms part of the ASTI (Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment) programme and involves the delivery of a major new 400kV overhead line and associated infrastructure across approximately 74km. Currently in the advanced planning and design phase, the project involves complex engineering, environmental considerations, and significant stakeholder engagement, including coordination with local communities, landowners, and supply chain partners.

The scheme plays a critical role in strengthening the electricity network and supporting the UK’s transition to a low‑carbon energy system. Predominantly site‑based working between the site bases at Kirriemuir and Edzell, the role will work closely with project teams and the customer to ensure clear, consistent communication across the project.

The position will help protect and promote the organisation’s reputation by building positive working relationships with stakeholders and producing high‑quality communication materials aligned to project milestones.

The project includes the construction of over 200 new transmission towers as well as extensive access infrastructure to support delivery.


What you’ll be doing

* Responsible for delivering activities outlined in the project communication and community engagement strategy to provide appropriate and timely information to all stakeholders.
* Ensure accurate audience data and segmentation is available and continually managed in line with GDPR to achieve successful communication delivery and measurement.
* Manage an ongoing pipeline of content to successfully deliver a monthly project newsletter.
* Engage with site teams to capture stories, milestones and key updates to build trust with the local community and key external stakeholders.
* Work closely with project managers and BB Helpline/client customer service teams to facilitate resolution of all project related enquiries/complaints in a prompt and professional manner.
* Coordinate and participate in project led community relations events – including public exhibitions, community meetings and community liaison working groups.
* Manage delivery of agreed site visit programme, identifying opportunities to showcase expertise, raise profiles and build trust with the local community, customers and partners.
* Support the implementation of project communication plans.

* Deliver proactive community communications activity including letter drops, newsletters and presentations to internal stakeholders, customer stakeholders, and local businesses, residents and schools/colleges to update on project delivery impact, milestones and challenges.
* Ensure project site(s) hoarding, information boards and all external visuals comply with Balfour Beatty brand guidelines.
* Write internal and external award submissions and case studies to promote our people and project.
* Ensure project communication channels, tools and platforms are regularly reviewed and updated with appropriate content – SharePoint site, digital totems, distribution lists, presentation packs etc.
* Work closely with Balfour Beatty Group communications team to talk positively about project successes and key milestones, sharing content that can be published across corporate channels.
* Coordinate project related employee recognition activities to highlight positive customer accolades, behaviours and achievement of operational milestones.
* Coordinate production of photographs and videos to demonstrate project progress and achievement.
* Interface with the Balfour Beatty Group Communications team on reputational risks and opportunities that have the potential to impact the UK brand – ensuring awareness and understanding of sensitivities and knowing when to elevate depending on stakeholder and topic.


Who we’re looking for

Essential:

* Experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field.
* Able to demonstrate track record in delivering a positive end‑to‑end customer experience.
* Confident engaging with external customers and stakeholders face‑to‑face.
* Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
* Able to interpret technical information from a variety of sources and translate into simple and engaging written communications.
* Team player who adapts positively to changing stakeholder demands.
* A self‑starter with strong organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
* A clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
* Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Desirable:

* A bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education/industry recognised qualification in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
* Member of CIPR, IOIC, CIM or other recognised industry body.
* Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects.
* Good understanding of the regulatory environment in construction/rail/utility industries.
