Overview
Location: Cambridge (CB10). Duration: Permanent. Hours: 9am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday. Salary: up to £43000 depending on experience. Job Reference: 36103. Polytec is seeking an Electronics Prototype Technician to join our client based near Saffron Walden. This is a hands-on role focused on RF and general PCB prototyping, surface-mount assembly, wiring and electronics fault-finding within a busy R&D environment. UK Security Clearance will be required for this role therefore applicants requiring visas will unfortunately not be eligible.
Responsibilities
* Electronics assembly to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
* Hand soldering of fine-pitch SMD components (including 0603 and 0402)
* PCB modification, rework and prototype build from schematics and drawings
* Detailed wiring and general electronics assembly
* Accurate recording and maintenance of build and test documentation
* Supporting day-to-day operation of an R&D laboratory
Requirements
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an electronics lab or assembly environment
* Proven ability to work independently on complex prototype builds
* Experience collaborating closely with engineers as part of project teams
* Good IT skills for documentation and record-keeping
* Mechanical assembly experience is advantageous
* Flexible, proactive approach with a willingness to learn new skills
