Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services Consultancy Location: Winchester (Hybrid) Type: Full-Time About Us Join a respected building services consultancy with 45 years’ experience delivering sustainable, value-driven engineering solutions. Our Winchester office is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical systems design across a diverse range of projects—from residential and commercial to healthcare, education, and industrial developments, including schemes up to £100m in value. Role Overview As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of mechanical systems design, overseeing projects from concept to completion.
You will mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and ensure integrated, low-carbon, energy-efficient solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead the design of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and domestic water systems from feasibility to construction. Produce 2D and 3D coordinated outputs using AutoCAD/Revit; perform dynamic thermal modelling with TAS.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable, low-carbon solutions. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal QA reviews. Prepare energy/sustainability reports and Part L/F compliance assessments.
