By joining our Trust, you will benefit from a comprehensive package that includes flexible working opportunities, generous annual leave, the NHS pension scheme, competitive bank rates, local discounts, access to on-site nurseries, reduced public transport costs, reward and recognition schemes and a wide range of health and wellbeing initiatives.Be part of Gloucestershire Hospitals, explore your future with us today.Job overviewWe are currently recruiting Full Time Booking Officer (37.5hrs) to join our extremely busy Haematology and Oncology Booking service based at Cheltenham General Hospital with requirement to work cross site as necessary.You will play a vital role in the booking and coordination of all new and routine appointments as well as complex chemotherapy and treatment appointments, ensuring the delivery of a smooth and efficient administration service to our patients.This important role supports the Outpatient Services in Haematology and Oncology for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.Our clinics are held in both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals with admin teams working across both sites.Main duties of the jobYou must be a hardworking, pro-active, motivated, resilient and patient focused individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy environment.You should be extremely well organised with excellent communication and time management skills.You will be expected to use your own judgement to resolve issues and have a tactful and sensitive approach to dealing with occasionally difficult situations.You should also be able to work well under pressure, closely following booking rules and guidelines and be able to prioritise your own workload under constantly changing demands.The ideal candidate will have previous experience of Trakcare and be confident in the use of other IT software systems.Working for our organisationOur clinics are held in both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals with admin teams working across both sites.You will be required to work cross site as necessary.Benefits of working in our Trust include:Holiday entitlement of 27 days per year, plus eight Bank Holidays, rising to 33 days after 10 years' serviceAnnual personal development reviews to support your career aspirationsOccupational health services and supportAutomatic membership of the NHS Pension SchemeDetailed job description and main responsibilitiesKey Details:To ensure and implement an efficient chemotherapy/treatment/routine booking service for patients and clinicians ensuring waiting time targets and clinical targets are met and all treatment chair capacity efficiently used at all sites.

Monitoring progress of referrals, identifying problems and taking appropriate actions to ensure efficient management of referralsTo action clinic re-scheduling ensuring that clinical priorities are maintained and liaising directly with consultants and nursing team where capacity problems exist.To manage the block booking appointments to ensure clinical priorities are maintained. Making judgements and decisions on flexing template capacity to achieve a balance between clinical priorities and waiting time targetsTo ensure that patients receive a supportive and responsive service tailored to their specific needs particularly where barriers to understanding exist.Advising the management and nursing team where over or under capacity issues exist and to suggest ways of addressing these. You will be expected to work on both hospital sites as and when required to support the service line.To ensure accurate and timely data collection.Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria- Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy- Ability to use and interrogate computers, multiple screens, and IT systemsDesirable criteria- NVQ in Administration level 3 or equivalentExperienceEssential criteria- Previous administration or booking office experience (or demonstrable equivalent)SkillsEssential criteria- Excellent communication skills- Flexible team worker, and motivated by patient care- Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines- Confidence to make and receive phone calls on a daily basis- Ability to concentrate, multitask and interrogate multiple systemsWe reserve the right to expire vacancies prior to the advertised closing date once a sufficient number of applications have been received.You will only be contacted by the Recruitment Team via email if you are shortlisted for this post.
