Our Values: We Lead The Way | We Dream Big | We Get it Done | We Innovate | We Inspire our Community Role Purpose: The Academy Performance Coach is responsible for delivering elite-level performance processes and female-focused sports science support to London City Lionesses Academy players, ensuring their wellness, physical development, recovery, and match load are effectively managed. It also involves collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to create a high-performance pathway while supporting the holistic development of women as athletes. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and driven performance professional with a background in sports science and player development. They will thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, bring a good level of understanding of the unique needs of female athletes, and have the ability to design and deliver cutting-edge performance programmes. Passionate about supporting women as athletes and individuals, they will combine technical expertise with a player-centred approach to help create an elite pathway at London City Lionesses. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Player Development & Monitoring · Responsible for delivering bespoke monitoring, management, and development plans to all Academy players. · Build bespoke IDPs for each Academy player based on their physical attributes, identifying specific development areas and opportunities to improve. · Collaborate with the Medical Lead to ensure all players receive individual physical programs, monitoring, and management to track long-term player development. · In collaboration with the Performance 2. On-Field Coaching & Conditioning · Design and lead all on-field conditioning, warm-ups, speed development, and individual development sessions for the U12-U14 teams. · Work closely with technical staff to design weekly training structures that balance developmental goals and player protection. · Provide Sport Science support to U12-U14 players during training sessions and games, with travel required. · Assist the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Medical Staff with gym-based strength and conditioning and end-stage Return to Play sessions. 3. Data & Performance Systems · In collaboration with global teams, develop daily reporting and data visualisation templates to maximise data impact on individual player management. · Develop and oversee a centralised AMS system (with global team) to optimise physical data visualisation, interpretation, and long-term player development tracking 4. Multi-Disciplinary & Holistic Support · Work collaboratively with the Medical Lead to provide multi-disciplinary support and education, implementing best practice in female health, wellbeing, recovery, profiling, S&C, training and match load monitoring, nutrition, psychology, and return-to-play strategies. 5. Professional Development · Attend and assist with workshops, in-service meetings, professional development courses, and other development opportunities. 6. Other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time-to-time by management Club Accountabilities 1. To comply with all Club policies, procedures and practices and carry out your role diligently and in the best interests of the Club 2. To lead with a proactive, high-performance mindset and actively contribute to a winning culture on and off the pitch 3. To behave in a manner consistent with Club values and policies 4. To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements. 5. To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel. What we are looking for Qualifications and Training Any specific qualifications or technical requirements listed here will be mandated by league and/or governing body rules Essential · A BSc in Exercise/Sports Science or a related field (or at advanced stages of study) · Hold either a UK Strength and Conditioning accreditation (UKSCA) Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach qualification (ASCC), or the US National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach qualification (CSCS) – Or working towards · FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) qualification Desirable · Master’s degree in Sports Science or performance related field. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential · Applied football experience (exception may be granted for experience in other professional sports). · Sport Science support experience with youth athletes, with a clear understanding of Long Term Athletic Development models · Enthusiastic and energetic team player, with experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team · Experienced in the planning and delivery of gym-based and pitch-based football programs · Ability to work in a fully integrated medical and performance department, to be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all LCL athletes Desirable · Experience working with female athletes with an understanding of female physiology · Experience of developing and implementing innovative ideas and putting them into practice · Experience in utilising sports science technologies such as: STATSports GPS, Polar, VALD (NordBord and Force Decks), and Athlete Management Systems.
