An exciting and challenging secondment opportunity has be created to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic department as a Failsafe Officer at
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
We need a highly motivated and proactive individual to ensure all of our patients are seen and treated within the national guidelines.
The role requires an individual who has a methodical approach to tasks, pays attention to detail and has the ability to prioritise and organise their
work.
Main duties of the job
 1. The purpose of this post is to ensure robust governance over the patient’s pathway by maintaining oversight and management of both clinical capacity and demand and the operational patient treatment list. 
 2. To provide an excellent service to our patients, their relatives and carers. 
 3. To manage and assist in the development of processes to achieve local and national standards relating to patient access to care.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
 14. Good Standard of education
 15. GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
 16. Evidence of further continued professional development.
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
 17. Use of Microsoft office packages
 18. Previous experience in Orthopeadics
 19. Experience of coaching/teaching of staff
 20. Previous experience managing change, work under pressure in a busy environment with time constraints
 21. Previous experience of supervising a team
 22. Experience of having worked to performance targets and within a service level agreement
 23. Awareness and understanding of patient access targets
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
 24. Good communication skills, at all levels and across a range of individuals including clinical staff and patients
 25. Knowledge of ocular and neuroanatomy and physiology
 26. Ability to work with differing client groups particularly with unusual/difficult cases/situations
 27. Track record of being a good team worker
 28. Proven ability to develop a team.
 29. Evidence of initiating skills and working practices to develop local protocols
 30. Ability to adapt to change by discussing, adopting and implementing new ideas and solutions
 31. To communicate effectively with patients, relatives and staff in difficult situations

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations remain the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the viruses when working in our healthcare settings. We encourage our staff to be vaccinated when recommended.
