Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Doncaster
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 39 per week
Salary: Up to £55,800 (inclusive of performance-related bonuses)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a new 4-bed children’s residential home in Doncaster. The role involves providing strong leadership, ensuring excellent care standards, and creating a nurturing environment where young people can develop resilience, independence and positive futures.
Role Purpose
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring safe, high-quality care in line with regulatory requirements and organisational policies. You will lead and develop a staff team, promote positive outcomes for children, and uphold an ethos of respect, inclusion and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership
* Ensure the home meets all regulatory, safeguarding, and health & safety requirements.
* Maintain high standards of record keeping, quality assurance and reporting.
* Oversee admissions and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions for young people.
* Chair internal and external meetings and contribute to organisational development.
* Participate in an on-call rota and provide cover when necessary.
* Produce clear, accurate reports and ensure all written communication meets required standards.
* Lead service improvements and embed a positive, child-centred culture.
* Hold (or be working towards) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
Staff Management
* Recruit, induct, supervise and appraise team members.
* Monitor staff development and ensure all mandatory training is completed.
* Manage staff rotas and authorise expenses.
* Address complaints, performance concerns and HR issues in line with policy.
Resource & Budget Oversight
* Monitor budgets and financial processes to ensure effective use of resources.
* Ensure the building, equipment and environment remain safe and well maintained.
External Relationships
* Build positive relationships with external agencies, commissioners and professionals.
* Represent the home professionally and contribute to management and practice forums.
Person Specification
* Passionate about delivering high-quality care for young people.
* Strong leadership experience within children’s residential services.
* Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Able to work confidently with challenging behaviours while maintaining resilience.
* Skilled at building effective relationships with young people, colleagues and agencies.
* Committed to equality, confidentiality and safe working practices.
* Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as needed.
* Flexible, reliable and able to work within an on-call rota.
