Job Title: Principal / Senior Computing & IT Engineer

What you'll be doing:
1. Providing network administration, services and support for standalone network environments
2. Lead the day-to-day running and efficient operation of the IT solutions implemented on associated test capabilities
3. Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving issues across hardware, software, networks and operating system
4. Managing and supporting VMware vSphere infrastructure, including virtual machine creation, virtual network management, cloning, snapshot management, storage management, backups and recovery (HA, DRS)
5. Managing, supporting and administering operating systems (Windows/ Linux), including assisting with Preventative Maintenance tasks, installation of software, patching, user account admin (AD), implementing GPO's, hardening and creation of automation scripts (PowerShell)
6. Managing and supporting networks (virtual and physical), including troubleshooting issues
7. Creating, updating and maintaining documentation around actions, changes, incidents etc.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
8. Degree Level qualification in relevant subject
9. Proven experience in 2nd/ 3rd line IT support, specifically in a Windows and VMware environment
10. Experience with managing virtual environments using VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter (VCP)
11. Solid understanding of Windows Server 2016/ 2019/ 2022 configurations and maintenance
12. Experience in systems migration, patch management, and disaster recovery
Desirable:
13. Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (2016/ 2019/ 2022) certification
14. Experience administering Enterprise Linux
15. CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA (for networking-related tasks)

We currently have a pivotal opportunity available within our IT Systems Infrastructure area, working on a host of SIM/ STIM test rig capabilities at various locations which operate on Windows and VMware-based standalone environment. These capabilities are required for the Integration, Verification & Validation of complex safety systems and technologies to provide our military services with competitive advantage. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
