We are seeking a competent and enthusiastic Technical Instructor to join our friendly, well‑established Occupational Therapy teams at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Northumberland. You will work closely with the Occupational Therapists and other therapy staff across both sites to deliver rehabilitation within the rehab environment and, where applicable, the patient’s home. You will carry out assessments and treatment sessions that have initially been screened by the therapist and deliver/fit equipment in patients’ homes. You may be required to work in the hospital setting if the service demands. Work will involve 7‑day shifts covering an 8‑8 service. Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist the post holder will be expected to:
* Assist with providing a comprehensive occupational therapy service.
* Carry out assessments and other tasks that have initially been screened by the therapist, including minor adaptations, equipment (e.g. grab rails, banisters, etc.) and pre‑operative assessments.
* Carry out appropriate interventions, requesting advice or support as required.
* Perform any other task requested by the therapist that is appropriate to their remit, role and responsibilities.
* Assist the therapist in facilitating safe discharge of patients from care, including delivery and fitting of equipment that has been agreed as needed.
* Undertake appropriate training as indicated by the therapist specific to the client group encountered.

Key qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or above, or equivalent, or willingness to complete within 12 months of employment.
* Education to GCSE or equivalent.
* A basic understanding of the philosophy of OT and its various core skills.
* An understanding of relevant legislative procedures within the OT department, including Health and Safety at work and Moving and Handling.
* Ability to work independently or jointly with another member of staff.
