As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Research Scientist to join the Fermentation Team within the Biotechnology R&T Group. Based in the purpose-built laboratories at the Daresbury Science Park, your role will be to support the development and scale-up of Croda’s rapidly expanding Biotechnology pipeline.

* PhD with experience in microbiology, biotechnology or chemical engineering discipline
* Experience in developing scalable microbial cell culture processes in a laboratory, pilot plant and/or production environment
* Technical background in strain engineering of fungi, including culture and genetic manipulation.
* Advanced molecular biology skills, including cloning, DNA & RNA manipulation, and organism transformation.
* You will have strong communication and networking skills.
* Hands-on experience using a wide range of microbial systems comprising of more than one bacterial, fungal and yeast processes
* Experience in development and/or scale-up of downstream process at laboratory and/or pilot scale
* Experience in transferring bioprocesses to industrial plants.

* You will be expected to work closely with our internal production team(s) and our external toll partners to undertake efficient technology transfer to establish these processes at an industrial scale.
* You will also be expected to work closely with our commercial, IP, regulatory, application, and sales and marketing teams to ensure the processes are efficiently developed and established into commercial-scale manufacture.
