Overview
Fleet and Equipment Mechanic needed for a Family owned and operated Asphalt Paving company located in Brighton, Colorado. Need an experienced Asphalt Equipment Mechanic familiar with working on pavers, skid steers, mills, rollers, semi trucks and trailers, pickups. Must know how to weld and have a good reference regarding both mechanic and welding. Diagnose, service and repair trucks and equipment.
Responsibilities
* This position performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment and on-highway trucks in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime.
* Performs diagnostic tasks to source parts and accurately repair heavy equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to diesel trucks, trailers, ready mix trucks, rollers, pavers, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, etc.
* Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
* Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools, as needed.
* Operates and inspects machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
* Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
* Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts.
* Troubleshoots and rewires electrical systems.
* Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
* Researches, orders, and maintains the inventory of parts for service and repairs.
* Performs and prioritizes repairs and/or maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks such as pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders; includes checks of fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires and clutches. Changes filters and oils and lubricates vehicles and motor-driven equipment. May also maintain other fleet vehicles.
* Responds to requests from supervisors to complete any and all repairs and maintenance, prepare and close out work orders, and relay work orders back to fleet admin and/or immediate supervisor.
* Occasional welding and fabrication.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptop computers and diagnostic software.
* General knowledge of heavy equipment operations, systems and components (engines, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic), repair methods and common issues.
* Strong computer diagnostic skills.
* Must be able to obtain or currently possess adequate tools to perform all assigned duties.
* Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
* Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and weekends.
* Communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
* High School Diploma or equivalent required. Trade school or equivalent training desired.
* Ability to lift 75 pounds and perform physical activities involving arms, legs, and movement (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials).
* Clean driving record.
* Valid CDL Class B minimum; Class A or ability to obtain CDL within 60 days preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment/on-highway truck maintenance experience or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.

* Previous welding or fabrication experience.
* General knowledge of heavy equipment operations, systems and components (engines, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic), repair methods and common issues.

* Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
* Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and weekends.
* Communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
* Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
