Overview

This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 01/05/26 to meet the needs of the service.

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people with Eating Disorders? If so, come and join us at BCUHB as we continue to develop our Children and Young Persons (CYP) eating disorder services. An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical CAMHS Practitioner within the Eating Disorder team. The Clinical CAMHS Practitioner for Eating Disorders role has been developed as part of the Mental Health improvement agenda as we continue to develop CYP eating disorders services regionally and nationally. We are recruiting a Clinical CAMHS Practitioner to the West (Gwynedd) ED team. We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate and person-centred individual; adopting an inclusive approach to support people with an Eating Disorder. This post will form part of a strong multi-disciplinary team and will have robust career development and CPD opportunities in order to ensure that we provide the highest quality, contemporary, evidence-based care working with young people. The successful candidate must be able to practice autonomously and have the freedom to exercise judgement about actions, in turn accepting responsibility and being held to account for ensuring that the highest standards of care are delivered to Children & Young People with an Eating Disorder.


Main duties of the job

* To provide assessment and intervention and / or specific evidence based therapies to children and young people with Eating disorders and eating difficulties as well as mental health problems and significant mental health disorders.
* The Clinical CAMHS Practitioner will support the Specialist Eating Disorder (SPEED) service by assessing and treating young people who present with eating disorders. This will include providing outreach work to patients who may find it hard to attend clinics and provide support at times of transition between services.
* Provide consultation and support to front line professionals in understanding and supporting children / young people and families through providing training, advice and direction in addition to the delivery of early intervention programmes.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Relevant professional Qualification and Registration
* Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010. This includes registered mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapist, practising psychologist.
* Post grad diploma or relevant knowledge, training and experience in the specialist field acquired through specialist training and on the job experience.
* Excellent knowledge of mental health problems and disorders
* Excellent knowledge of family dynamics and issues relating to working with families
* Understanding of relevant therapeutic approaches
* Knowledge and appreciation of national policies

Desirable criteria

* Additional formal qualification in a recognised therapeutic approach
* Specific, targeted, evidence based interventions e.g. Maudsley manualised approach to Anorexia.
* Formal qualification in a relevant field e.g. Child Development, Mental Health etc
* Understanding of service structures and inter-agency working
* Knowledge of specific disorders / conditions relevant to CAMHS
* Knowledge of working with eating disorders.


Experience

Essential criteria

* Relevant post registration experience of working with children, young people and families in a health or social care environment or mental health setting

Desirable criteria

* Experience of working in a specific clinical role relating to CAMHS
* Previous specialist eating disorder experience
