6 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a Senior Social Worker (CP Team) to deliver high-quality, statutory social work services to children and families.
• The post holder will assess, plan, and deliver interventions to safeguard children, promote positive outcomes, and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
• The role requires professional judgement, resilience, and adherence to statutory guidance including the Children Act 2004, London Child Protection Procedures, and Hackney’s safeguarding policies.
• This is a temporary assignment from 23/02/2026 to 23/08/2026 at the Hackney Service Centre.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families, including interviews, observations, and multi-agency input.
• Analyse and evaluate complex information to provide accurate, holistic assessments and risk analyses.
• Develop and implement child protection plans and social work interventions, applying systemic approaches and Social Learning Theory where appropriate.
• Deliver direct work with children and families, building professional, respectful relationships and safeguarding children.
• Produce clear, concise written and verbal reports for internal records, multi-agency meetings, and court proceedings.
• Manage caseloads effectively, prioritising tasks and ensuring statutory responsibilities and deadlines are met.
• Liaise with partner agencies to promote integrated approaches and safeguard children, sharing information as required by legislation.
• Maintain accurate case records, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks and service standards.
• Actively support equality, diversity, and anti-racist practice within all aspects of social work.
• Participate in supervision, professional development, and continuous learning to enhance skills and ensure best practice.
Skills/Experience:
• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
• Knowledge of child development, parenting capacity, environmental and cultural factors.
• Experience in statutory child protection, safeguarding, and working with children and families.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and London Child Protection Procedures.
• Proficiency in systemic interventions, Social Learning Theory, and reclaiming social work principles.
• Strong report writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Competent in IT and information management systems for case recording and reporting.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage caseloads, and demonstrate resilience in a complex environment.
• Experience in partnership working with multiple agencies and understanding of multi-agency roles.
