Job Description
An Active Stirling Early Years Coach plans and delivers developmentally appropriate activities, promoting an active lifestyle by creating a fun and engaging environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years. This role includes helping children develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and a love for being active. Please note, this role is fixed term until 31st March 2026.
Requirements
To deliver a quality Early Years programme for all abilities and support wider facility operations as required. To plan Early Years classes, meeting individual needs by providing high-quality coaching experiences to children aged 6 months to 5 years. Experience working with young children in coaching or early years education. A relevant coaching qualification (e.g., UKCC Level 1 or 2) OR an early year's qualification (e.g., SVQ, HNC, Degree). Ability to plan, deliver, and adapt fun, age-appropriate physical activity sessions. Strong communication skills to engage confidently with children, parents, and carers. Enthusiastic, friendly, approachable, and able to motivate and inspire young children through play. Great organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic understanding of child development and safeguarding practices. Flexible and willing to travel within Stirling. Membership of the PVG Scheme. First Aid and Child Protection certificates.
Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver high-quality early years physical activity sessions that promote physical literacy and fundamental movement skills (balance, coordination, agility).
2. Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs and abilities.
3. Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development through structured and free play.
4. Set up, pack away, and maintain equipment to a high standard.
5. Build positive rapport with children and parents to create a supportive atmosphere.
6. Attend training days and team meetings to stay updated.
7. Be a positive role model, promoting active lifestyles to families and the community.
8. Keep accurate registers and contribute to monitoring and reporting.
9. Follow Active Stirling's child protection, health and safety, and equality policies.
