Permanent Project Engineer roles, based in Portishead, North Somerset.

Your new role
The Project Engineer will report to the assigned Senior Project Engineer and will be responsible for producing technical solutions, designs, and engineering for all onsite lifting operations, receiving transportation, load-out, marine transports, and load-ins. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in hydraulic gantry installations and crane lifting projects. Other responsibilities may include engineering and planning of transportation projects (using SPMT and modular conventional), barge load-outs and load-ins, and jack and skid installations.
The Project Engineer is accountable for:
* Acting as a point of contact for the customer and site operation teams
* Devising smart engineering solutions for heavy lifting and transportation projects
* Conducting site visits and providing conceptual solutions for lifting operations
* Preparing and selecting existing and renewed engineering statements
* Developing drawings, calculations, visualisations, manuals, risk assessments, and other key documents
* Ensuring efficient execution with focus on safety and quality
* Maintaining high levels of document quality and control throughout the project lifecycle
* Attending site visits to assess customer requirements and supporting operations on site (UK or abroad)
* On-site support and development where required
* Supporting Osprey’s vision and values in day-to-day work
* Adhering to Osprey’s management systems within your area of responsibility
* Responsibility for Health, Safety and Environmental aspects affecting self, employees, and activities in your control
* Other duties reasonably required by the Company
What you’ll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have:
* Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related discipline or demonstrable industry experience
* CSCS Appointed Person
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing large-scale construction projects
* Relevant experience in heavy lift transport, shipping, or lifting markets with evidence of delivering targets
* Experience with road transportation in all configurations
* Experience with lifting operations using mobile, tower, and crawler cranes
* Proven experience acting as an engineer with direct customer interface
* Knowledge and experience of technical codes and standards
* Strong technical skills and the ability to learn and apply new techniques quickly
* Quality and attention to detail with a right-first-time approach
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to adapt style to the audience
* Effective planning and proactive approach
* IOSH Working Safely / IOSH Managing Safely / CSCS Safety Passport
* Proven experience delivering engineering solutions in the heavy lift industry
* Experience deriving from first principles for transportation, lifting, and marine projects
* Experience with gantry lift systems, jack & skid systems, and installation methods (e.g., climbing jacks, vertical tower jacking, strand jacks)
* Experience with RoRo operations and SPMT equipment in all configurations
* Knowledge of HPC lifting standards
* Willingness to travel and hold a current driving licence
* Current valid passport with no restrictions
Note: If you are required to drive company vehicles, you must hold a full clean UK driving licence. You must also hold valid right to work in the UK.
