We are seeking a dedicated Premises Manager to join our Multi Academy Trust and work as part of our Central Services team, overseeing the estates management and maintenance of our four primary schools in Exeter. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with a proactive and friendly approach. The ability to multitask, work flexibly and perform well under pressure to meet tight deadlines is essential. You will need to liaise with school staff, Senior Managers and Contractors.
As our Premises Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that our school environments are safe, secure, and well-maintained – enabling our pupils and staff to thrive in high-quality learning environments.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the safety, security, and cleanliness of the school premises.
2. Manage the maintenance of buildings, including ensuring that heating, lighting, and electrical systems are functioning effectively.
3. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
4. Supervise and coordinate with contractors for any necessary repairs or maintenance.
5. Monitor and report any issues or concerns regarding premises.
6. Handle emergencies related to premises or facilities as required.
7. Ensure premises are prepared for school events and activities.
8. Support the leadership team with site-related matters as required.
About You:
9. Previous experience in premises management or a similar role.
10. Knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation.
11. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
12. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and external agencies.
13. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance and safety.
14. Experience managing cleaning and maintenance staff is desirable.
15. A flexible, hands-on approach to managing facilities in a school environment.
